Shafaq News\/ Iraq signed a new energy cooperation agreement
\nand two long-term maintenance contracts with Germany\u2019s Siemens Energy on
\nThursday, aiming to expand power generation and modernize the country\u2019s
\nelectricity infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The agreement, signed by Iraq\u2019s Ministry of Electricity and The two maintenance contracts cover major power generation Electricity Minister Ziyad Fadel revealed, \u201cThe latest
\nSiemens Energy in the presence of the German ambassador<\/a> to Iraq, and the Prime
\nMinister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani marks the third phase of the strategic energy
\npartnership<\/a> between Iraq and Germany. It targets an additional 14,000 megawatts
\nfor the national grid and seeks to improve energy services across the country.<\/p>\n
\nsites. One involves a long-term service deal for two units at the Dibis Gas
\nPower Plant, with a combined capacity of 340 megawatts. The second is a
\nfive-year contract for the Al-Mussaib Thermal Power Plant, aimed at maintaining
\n750 megawatts, adding 150 megawatts, and enhancing safety and performance.<\/p>\n
\nagreement would raise Iraq\u2019s projected total generation capacity to 38,000
\nmegawatts, surpassing the current output of 28,000 megawatts,\u201d adding that the
\nnew Siemens-built plants would rely on locally sourced fuel and use
\ncombined-cycle technology that allows electricity to be generated without
\nadditional fuel consumption.<\/p>\n
