After several delays, 2026 is set to be the year a new hotel will open above the Cavern club. The ECHO previously<\/a> reported that, as part of an agreement with Greenwood Developments and JSM, Hilton will debut its new brand Motto by Hilton in the city\u2019s cavern quarter.<\/a><\/p>\n

The space was originally signed off to feature 150 rooms. However, entrepreneur Craig Greenwood amended the plans and received the green light from the city council\u2019s planning committee<\/a> to nearly double this number.<\/p>\n

The new plans suggest the hotel, called ‘The Cavern Walks Hotel’, will now have 283 guest rooms, including connecting layout options to create a multi-use space for larger groups. It will also boast communal spaces inspired by the vibrant Mathew Street below.<\/a><\/p>\n

The planning proposals also reveal the hotel will have a reception area and food, beverage, entertainment, and function room space on the upper ground floor.<\/p>\n

A standard room will be equipped with a walk-in shower bathroom, wardrobe, mini fridge, safe, vanity unit, wall-mounted TV, side table, and a desk or wall ledge.<\/p>\n

The hotel was due to open in 2025, however JSM\u2019s property and assets manager Matt Crebbin confirmed to the ECHO<\/a> that the \u201cnew target\u201d is 2026.<\/p>\n

Craig Greenwood, managing director of Greenwood Developments, previously said he was delighted to bring the hotel to life. He added: \u201cWe are grateful to Liverpool City Council for their support as we progress with the development.<\/p>\n

Senior vice president from the Hilton group, Patrick Fitzgibbon, previously said: “Liverpool offers remarkable cultural attractions, bars and restaurants \u2013 all of which thrive thanks to growing numbers of international and domestic visitors to the city.<\/p>\n
