If you\u2019ve ever walked through Covent Garden\u2019s market hall, you\u2019ll know the Crusting Pipe. Located on the lower ground floor of the complex, you\u2019ve likely looked down on its winers and diners from above. It\u2019s long been one of the market\u2019s most instantly recognisable outposts. But no more.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Despite being one of Covent Garden\u2019s most\u00a0popular and longest standing bars, the Crusting Pipe has officially closed for good.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The bar and restaurant was one of the first tenants of Covent Garden\u2019s market hall after it was redeveloped from a fruit and veg market into an entertainment and hospitality hub in 1980.\u00a0After 45 years in operation,\u00a0the Crusting Pipe\u00a0shut up shop on December 21.<\/p>\n
The bar\u2019s closure has been put down to a change in trading environments and consumer habits. A statement on the website of Davy\u2019s (which operated the boozer) said: \u2018As trading environments and customer habits have evolved, this chapter has now come to a close.<\/p>\n
\u2018We remain grateful to the many team members and customers who contributed to the character and success of The Crusting Pipe over the years.\u2019<\/p>\n
The Crusting Pipe wasn\u2019t the only beloved London drinking hole to say farewell in 2025. Hackney boozer The Gun<\/a>, iconic bar G-A-Y <\/a>and historic pub Ye Olde Swiss Cottage<\/a>\u00a0all permanently closed last year, too.
