Emergency services raced to Bolton A&E on Friday afternoon (January 2) after a man unleashed brutal attacks on patients inside. Police attended the scene at the hospital shortly after 4.15pm.<\/p>\n
It was reported that a man, who had been brought into A&E by police, began ‘shouting’ at other patients waiting to be seen before ‘punching’ a man to the ground and ‘biting’ someone else’s ear during the attack.<\/p>\n
One witness, Michael Anderson, who was waiting with his pregnant partner, said he and a nurse were forced to pin the suspect down to the ground to prevent further attacks before security arrived and the man was arrested.<\/p>\n
Pictures taken on Friday showed a number of police vehicles outside the A&E entrance. A man, in his 20s, was later arrested at the scene to be taken into custody.<\/p>\n
A Greater Manchester Police<\/a> spokesperson said: “Officers called to the incident at around 4:15pm today, one man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of s18 and s47 assault, police assault and racially aggravated public order.”<\/p>\n The force did not provide any details on the nature of injuries sustained by the victims.
