Police were called to the city centre following the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.edinburghlive.co.uk\/news\/edinburgh-news\/tragedy-edinburgh-man-dies-after-33154982\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"incidentLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">incident<\/a> at around 2.40pm on Friday, January 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The structure is said to have become insecure as a result of the collision. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.edinburghlive.co.uk\/news\/edinburgh-news\/six-arrests-edinburghs-hogmanay-celebrations-33153936\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Police ScotlandLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Police Scotland<\/a> have advised members of the public to avoid the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">However, the force have confirmed nobody was <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.edinburghlive.co.uk\/news\/edinburgh-news\/edinburgh-shoppers-huge-new-years-33155946\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"injuredLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">injured<\/a>. Diversions are in place for motorists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Queen Street is closed in both directions between Frederick Street and Hanover Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Traffic travelling west is diverted down Queen Street Gardens East.
