{"id":67022,"date":"2025-05-02T00:27:10","date_gmt":"2025-05-02T00:27:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/67022\/"},"modified":"2025-05-02T00:27:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-02T00:27:10","slug":"asia-markets-live-stocks-trade-mixed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/67022\/","title":{"rendered":"Asia markets live: Stocks trade mixed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hongdae street in Seoul city, South Korea<\/p>\n<p>Twenty47studio | Moment | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Asia-Pacific markets trade mixed, even as all three key benchmarks on Wall Street advanced overnight on optimism that a slowdown in the global economy will not impede the progress of developments in artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.AXJO\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P\/ASX 200<\/a> fell 0.12% at the open.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s benchmark\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.N225\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nikkei 225<\/a>\u00a0added 0.99% while the broader Topix index\u00a0advanced 0.62% in early trade.<\/p>\n<p>Over in South Korea, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.KS11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kospi<\/a>\u00a0index declined 0.54% while the small-cap Kosdaq was flat.<\/p>\n<p>Futures tied to Hong Kong&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.HSI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hang Seng Index<\/a> stood at 21,935, pointing to a weaker open compared to the HSI&#8217;s last close of 22,119.41 on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>China markets are closed for the Labor Day public holiday.<\/p>\n<p>U.S.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/01\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stock futures slipped<\/a> as Wall Street digested the earnings reports of two so-called &#8220;Magnificent Seven&#8221; stocks\u00a0&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AAPL\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apple<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AMZN\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In extended trading,\u00a0shares of\u00a0Apple slid more than 4% after revenue from its Services division fell short of Wall Street&#8217;s estimates in its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/01\/apple-aapl-earnings-report-q2-2025-.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second fiscal quarter<\/a>. Meanwhile, Amazon&#8217;s shares declined over 2% as the e-commerce giant reported better-than-expected first-quarter results, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/01\/amazon-amzn-q1-earnings-report-2025.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">released soft guidance for the current period<\/a> as it navigates uncertainty around U.S. President Donald Trump&#8217;s sweeping tariffs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/30\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Overnight stateside<\/a>, stocks rose as strong quarterly results from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/META\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meta Platforms<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/MSFT\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft<\/a> &#8211; two Big Tech and &#8220;Magnificent Seven&#8221; stocks &#8211; eased concerns of a slowdown in artificial intelligence-powered developments amid the current macroeconomic uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a>\u00a0climbed 83.60 points, or 0.21%, to close at 40,752.96. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.SPX\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P 500<\/a>\u00a0gained 0.63% to end at 5,604.14, still slightly below its levels from before President Donald Trump&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/02\/trump-reciprocal-tariffs-countries-chart-imports-united-states.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; tariffs announcement<\/a>\u00a0in early April.
