There have been no conversations at Birmingham City<\/a> about replacing manager Chris Davies.<\/p>\n

The subject of the manager\u2019s future has not been discussed by the top brass who remain firmly behind the 40-year-old.<\/p>\n

Club chairman Tom Wagner is understood still to be supportive of the man who he charged with leading his club back into the Championship from League One.<\/p>\n

However, it is understood that the leadership group is mindful of the fact that the club has slipped from a position outside the play-offs to 17th following a winless seven-game streak.<\/p>\n

That run comes at a difficult time following the opening of the January transfer window, which could see significant change to the club\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n

Birmingham Set for a Busy January Transfer Window<\/p>\n

Director of football Craig Gardner wants to bring in up to FOUR new faces and is keen to shift out that many from the current squad to make room in the budget.<\/p>\n

One of those was confirmed when Kai Wagner joined in a deal believed to be valued at \u00a32m from MLS side Philadelphia Union.<\/p>\n

The left-back will come in as cover for Alex Cochrane who has battled through injury to make a return to action during the 3-0 defeat to Watford.<\/p>\n

But the key to any incomings will be the outgoings and that could see plenty of activity over the next four weeks at St Andrew\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Birmingham\u2019s home form has been key to their season so far.<\/p>\n

Davies boasts an incredible record on home turf with Hull City the only side to have departed with three points in 37 league meetings.<\/p>\n

That included going through the entire season undefeated in front of their own supporters.<\/p>\n

And a derby victory tomorrow over Coventry City would go some way towards relieving the pressure that has been building.<\/p>\n

While the showings at St Andrew\u2019s have been little short of promotion form, those on their travels bear all the hallmarks of a club battling relegation.<\/p>\n

Birmingham\u2019s eight-point return from 13 matches so far this season is among the worst in the division.<\/p>\n

Only Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth have picked up fewer points – and both of those clubs are in the bottom three.<\/p>\n

It was a similar story at Vicarage Road earlier this week which saw fans\u2019 frustrations in the away enclosure spill over.<\/p>\n

Chants of \u2018sideways and backwards everywhere we go,\u2019 were heard as the grumblings of discontent became more vocal.<\/p>\n

However, that form has not been seen by the majority at St Andrew\u2019s and it is that, rather than anything else, which has prevented the volume being turned up.<\/p>\n

Birmingham Fans Questioning Recruitment<\/p>\n

Davies does have considerable credit in the bank with the owners following last season\u2019s record-breaking jump out of League One.<\/p>\n

That 111-point tally was a Football League record but Birmingham did invest during the summer – and are continuing to do so.<\/p>\n

Just to further muddy the waters in what is a complicated situation, there are also questions from the fanbase about whether the manager has been given the right tools for the job.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s led to some fingers being pointed at the recruitment department – although Davies does have input on transfers.<\/p>\n

Brum are currently looking to end a seven-game run without victory since their triumph over Watford on December 1.<\/p>\n

And they will welcome back Tommy Doyle from suspension, although skipper Christoph Klarer is sitting out the final game of his three-match ban for the sending-off on Boxing Day against Derby County.<\/p>\n

It is touch and go whether leading scorer Jay Stansfield will make a return, having missed the mauling by the Hornets.<\/p>\n

He suffered a dead leg during the 1-1 draw with Southampton and Davies will be making a check on the morning of the game to see if the former England Under-21 international is fit to face the Sky Blues.<\/p>\n
