Because that\u2019s certainly not the case at Canary Wharf!<strong> The area\u2019s stunning Winter Lights festival is returning at the end of this month<\/strong> to blow away the cobwebs, light up the night, and provide just the necessary balm for our January blues.<\/p>\n<p>Running from<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/january-london-things-to-do-2026\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/january-london-things-to-do-2026\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_0\" data-category=\"click_internal\">January 20 \u2013 31<\/a><\/strong>, the Winter Lights festival will see the area taken over by \u201c16 spectacular light installations by acclaimed artists from around the world.\u201d It\u2019s a stunning showcase of neon, LED, and all things illuminated, showing what an unbridled imagination (and state-of-the-art light technology) can do.<\/p>\n<p>As if that wasn\u2019t enough, it\u2019s also completely <a href=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/free-things-to-do-london\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/free-things-to-do-london\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_2\" data-category=\"click_internal\">FREE<\/a> to visit!<strong> Just head on down between 5-10pm, and wander around the area to marvel at the lights<\/strong>. (Photo from 2024) Canary Wharf Winter Lights <\/p>\n<p>In recent years, the festival has become hugely popular with Londoners and tourists alike. It\u2019s no wonder, given how stunning the area looks as it becomes suffused with lights, colours, and interactive pieces. (Plus, it makes for a pretty damn good photo opportunity!) With<strong> this year\u2019s festival being the 10th edition<\/strong>, it\u2019s set to be just as dazzling and awe-inspiring as years gone by.<\/p>\n<p>For 2026, they\u2019re inviting Londoners to escape their surroundings, with <strong>light displays and <a href=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/art-exhibitions-london\/\" rel=\"follow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretldn.com\/art-exhibitions-london\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_3\" data-category=\"click_internal\">artworks<\/a> that draw from this year\u2019s theme: DREAMSCAPE.<\/strong> You can expect to see glowing pieces that transport you away from the city into a world of imagination and creativity.<\/p>\n<p>The pieces on display will include returning favourites from past years, permanent pieces, and all-new installations. (Photo from 2024) <\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll have to do some exploring to see them all. That\u2019s because they\u2019re literally scattered all around the area. The Canary Wharf group estimates it would take between<strong> 2-3 hours to find and see everything<\/strong>, depending on crowds.
