Net spend &#8211; which is defined as &#8220;transfer fees spent on acquiring players minus transfer fees received on moving players out&#8221; &#8211; is a term that is routinely bandied about in football.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Red Devils are regular big spenders in the transfer window and routinely rank among the biggest recruiters in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/world-news\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">world<\/a> football. However, their sizeable expenditure is rarely matched by profit earned from outgoings &#8211; quite the contrast from the current <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/premier-league\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Premier League<\/a> champions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">It&#8217;s closing in on 13 years since United last captured the Premier League crown but a five-year span beginning in the summer of 2021 has Ruben Amorim&#8217;s side as the undisputed leader of the net spend table.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Their total net spend has come to \u00a3-684.61million, which is just -\u00a310m less than second-place <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/arsenal-fc\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Arsenal<\/a> who&#8217;ve accrued a figure of \u00a3-675.77m. It&#8217;s <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/chelsea-fc\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Chelsea<\/a> up next with the Blues&#8217; net spend total coming in at \u00a3-662.04m, as despite spending over \u00a31bn since Todd Boehly&#8217;s arrival, they&#8217;ve earned huge transfer fees from outgoings in recent years<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/tottenham-hotspur-fc\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Tottenham<\/a> Hotspur are the next club up with their net spend total in the last five years totalling \u00a3-569.24m despite their last top four finish coming in the 2021\/22 season.
