{"id":671718,"date":"2026-01-03T18:51:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-03T18:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/671718\/"},"modified":"2026-01-03T18:51:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-03T18:51:10","slug":"colourful-bollards-are-tribute-to-bristol-man-who-died-in-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/671718\/","title":{"rendered":"Colourful bollards are tribute to Bristol man who died in June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Mr Willcocks, a Research Fellow at University of the Arts London (UAL) and Senior Urban Designer with Sustrans, reached out to Mr Hayles three weeks before he died to propose the idea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Mr Hayles said: &#8220;He&#8217;d had this idea and knew the illness was terminal, but he wanted to do something that left a bit of a legacy for the area and for his community. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Marcus&#8217;s humility and focus on others, even in the final days of his life, struck a deep chord with those who knew him. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;He understood that small changes in the urban environment could create moments of joy, reflection and connection. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;For him, this wasn&#8217;t about bollards.
