Hall\/NBCU Photo Bank\/NBCUniversal via Getty Images via Getty Images)<br \/>\nMetro readers have their say<\/p>\n<p>We asked\u00a0<strong>Metro\u00a0<\/strong>readers to share their ultimate comfort watches to binge while recovering from New Year\u2019s this weekend. <\/p>\n<p>From late 90s sitcoms to James Cordon and <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/ruth-jones\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ruth Jones<\/a>\u2019 smash hit, here is the telly that came recommended.<\/p>\n<p>Peep Show<\/p>\n<p>Ever wanted to hear the internal monologue of some of your funniest friends? Well, Peep Show, recommended by <strong>Metro<\/strong> reader Emma Love, will give you just that.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/AD_190840871-85f3.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-25955054\" alt=\"Peep Show Series 9: Episode 6 - (David Mitchell as Mark and Robert Webb as Jeremy)\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tRobert Webb and David Mitchell wrote and starred in the iconic show (Picture: Angus Young)<\/p>\n<p>The series, which ended in 2015, sees two awkward best friends navigate life from their flat in <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/croydon\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Croydon<\/a>, South <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/london\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">London<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Their dry comedy and wit will leaving you howling, with performances from David Mitchell, <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/robert-webb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robert Webb<\/a> and Olivia Colman.<\/p>\n<p>Kaushik Roy on Google called it \u2018the greatest comedy show ever made for the television\u2019. <\/p>\n<p>Matt Moggy gave it a similar accolade \u2018for properly expressing British humour\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The cast <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/12\/25\/tv-fans-claim-peep-show-star-might-saved-christmas-bake-off-25803385\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently reunited<\/a> for a special episode of Celebrity Bake Off, as they attempted to bake Christmas turkey pies in a tricky technical challenge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peep Show is available to watch on Channel 4.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gavin and Stacey<\/p>\n<p>Gavin and Stacey makes for a fantastic comfort watch \u2013 at least <strong>Metro <\/strong>reader Pem Shell certainly thinks so. <\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/AD_3862871-1a7e.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-25955076\" alt=\"Television programmes: Gavin &amp; Stacey. data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/manchester\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchester<\/a>-based comedy is the incredible work of the late Victoria Wood.<\/p>\n<p>Set in a factory canteen and starring Maxine Peak and Julie Walters, these working class women discuss everything from marriages to mashed potato in dialogue that\u2019ll split your sides from laughing.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Every line is a scream\u2019, Barbara Serres on Google said. <\/p>\n<p>JanMike9 thought similar, writing: \u2018Magical casting, rapid-fire, intelligent, genuinely more than to moan about the present and reminisce on the past.<\/p>\n<p>Early seasons came out just after the millennium and it was once christened \u2018Last of the Summer Whisky\u2019 \u2013 the show revolves around The Clansman pub, where lots of the banter takes place.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Meldrum on Google reviews calls it \u2018one of my all time favourites\u2019, while Aanc Build said they \u2018binge watched the whole 9 series\u2019 and \u2018loved every one of the episodes.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p><strong>Still Game is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Big Bang or maybe you were hooked when it was added to the streamer, but there\u2019s no denying this is a great nostalgic watch.<\/p>\n<p>It centres on the lives of two wonderfully kooky physicists, and the friends and romances that surround them. <\/p>\n<p>Ryan Choi on Google said it\u2019s \u2018a sitcom that transcends the boundaries of traditional comedy by blending science, geek culture, and heartfelt storytelling into a truly unforgettable television experience.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>And put simply, Madeline Kwon said it was the \u2018best TV show ever!\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Big Bang
