His administration, he said, has<br \/>\na \u201cperfect track record of winning\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It may not be that simple, however. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Venezuelan economy is in shambles. Its industrial<br \/>\ninfrastructure is outdated and decrepit. Its political stability has been<br \/>\nundermined by decades of increasingly authoritarian rule.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Trump promised that the US is going to do what\u2019s necessary<br \/>\nto \u201cmake Venezuela great again\u201d. He promised to \u201crebuild their whole<br \/>\ninfrastructure\u201d. But that will take considerable American time and effort<br \/>\nincluding, Trump said, the possibility of US military personnel on the ground<br \/>\nin Venezuela.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It\u2019s a dramatic reversal for a man who had criticised, in<br \/>\nthe past, US regime-change and nation-building efforts elsewhere in the<br \/>\nworld. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Just over two decades ago, American leaders made similar<br \/>\nassurances about the ease &#8211; and potential benefits &#8211; of US regime change in<br \/>\nIraq.
