Ordsall residents have been encouraged to share their views on a \u00a34 million scheme aiming to make travelling around the area safer, easier and more connected this January. <\/strong><\/p>\n

People who live in the area can complete a survey or join an in-person or virtual event to share their opinions on the \u2018Ordsall Neighbourhood Scheme\u2019 improvement project.<\/p>\n

Residents, local stakeholders and community groups have been urged to complete a survey or join a drop-in session on Wednesday 14 January, between 10am \u2013 7:30pm or a virtual event on Teams on Thursday 22 January at 1pm.<\/p>\n

Salford City Council<\/a> outlined that the project will add new routes and better connections to the Bee Network.<\/p>\n

Proposals include making walking, wheeling and cycling safer and easier; better access to schools, parks, shops and public transport, reconnecting communities divided by busy roads and making changes to support healthier lifestyles and cleaner air.<\/p>\n

Several bus stops on Ordsall Lane, Eccles New Road, Phoebe Street, Regent Road and Robert Hall Street would also be improved, with new raised platforms and moved to better spots, making them easier to reach with new crossings.<\/p>\n

The plans cover four areas:<\/p>\n

Area 1: Eccles New Road, Howard Street, King William Street.<\/p>\n

Area 2: Gloucester Street, Goodiers Drive, Robert Hall Street.<\/p>\n

Area 3: Colman Gardens, Ordsall Park, Phoebe Street, West Craven Street.<\/p>\n

Area 4: Oldfield Road, Ordsall Lane, Taylorson Street.<\/p>\n

The Ordsall Neighbourhood Scheme improvement project\u00a0 is backed by \u00a34 million funding from the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements (CRSTS) programme subject to approvals, and\u00a0is all about encouraging more active and accessible ways to get around.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Councillor Mike McCusker, Lead Member for Planning, Transport and Sustainable Development at Salford City Council said: \u201cCreating safer, greener, and more connected spaces for everyone is a key priority.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith many local journeys around Ordsall\u00a0being harder than they should be because of busy roads and limited lighting or safe crossings, this scheme aims to change that.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I would encourage people to tell us what they think about the proposals, either through our survey or by attending a drop-in session or virtual event in January, which will help us to shape the future plans of the scheme.\u201d<\/p>\n
