The British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) is hosting an inaugural Welsh Raptor Convention on Saturday 31st January 2026 at Aberystwyth University.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The event has been organised to celebrate the first season of Cudyll Cymru<\/a>, a raptor monitoring scheme that began last year where volunteers are locating and observing four widespread raptor species in Wales (Buzzard, Kestrel, Red Kite Sparrowhawk), as well as Ravens, to help build important information about population trends across the country.<\/p>\n

The BTO hopes that the Welsh Raptor Convention will foster a sense of community amongst the volunteers, providing opportunities to network with like-minded people and learn from more experienced peers.<\/p>\n

As well as presenting what\u2019s been learned about Welsh raptors during the project\u2019s first year, the event will also include guest speakers from the Eagle Reintroduction Wales<\/a> project, National Wildlife Crime Unit<\/a> and wildlife guide and photographer Keith Offord<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There will also be a skill-building workshop focusing on identification\u00a0of feathers and raptor signs.<\/p>\n

The cost of attending is \u00a310 (free for under-25s) and includes lunch.<\/p>\n
