Manchester United’s trip to Elland Road to take on Leeds<\/a> will go ahead as planned as things stand, despite frosty conditions sweeping the UK<\/a>. The Reds will face the Peacocks at 12.30pm on Sunday in the Premier League<\/a>, in a clash which may prove pivotal for both sides.<\/p>\n However, a number of matches were called off this weekend through frost and snow proving problematic for teams across the country. Altrincham’s game against Morecambe was called off moments before kick-off on Saturday due to “safety concerns brought to the referee.”<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Bromley’s clash with Oldham – set to take place on Sunday – was also postponed due to a frozen pitch a day before kick-off. It comes as large parts of the UK have been slapped with yellow weather<\/a> warnings over snow and ice, with temperatures plummeting to below 0C across the board.<\/p>\n Most of the east coast of England is affected by the warnings, while parts of Scotland north of Dundee and Greenock are also impacted. It’s a similar story on the west coast of the UK, with Manchester also covered by a yellow warning for snow and ice.<\/p>\n However, with no warning in place in Leeds today, the match at Elland Road will still go ahead as planned. Football fans headed to the West Yorkshire venue can expect highs of 3C and lows of -2C, as the cold winter sun shines down.<\/p>\n Sitting pretty at sixth in the Premier League standings, Manchester United<\/a> could climb as high as fourth on Sunday dependent on how Liverpool<\/a> fare at Fulham<\/a> and the result of Manchester City’s<\/a> match against Chelsea<\/a>.<\/p>\n It’s been a far more positive season under Ruben Amorim’s<\/a> tutelage in 2025\/26, with the Reds holding a tally of eight wins, six draws and five losses at the halfway point.<\/p>\n However, with Bryan Mbeumo<\/a>, Amad<\/a> and Noussair Mazraoui<\/a> still away at the Africa Cup Of Nations<\/a>, and Leeds turning the tide at the other side of the Premier League<\/a>, Amorim knows the task at hand headed into this weekend’s game.<\/p>\n Speaking during his pre-match press conference<\/a>, the Portuguese tactician said: “They have a lot of pace sometimes we struggle with pace. They are confident but we proved we can win any game in any situation, in every context, so we will try to do that again.<\/p>\n “We know they change the system, they have different players in front. The last game they rotated two players [Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor] that usually are the starters. So they have good players, good manager, great environment so it is going to be a tough game.”<\/p>\n Speaking about the rivalry between the two clubs, he added: “I heard it is a big derby, a great environment, big rivalry but every game in the Premier League is so tough so it is one more game. I know it means a lot to the fans but we need to go there and try to win.”<\/p>\n Leeds, meanwhile, currently sit 16th in the league table, just seven points clear of the drop zone. However, the Peacocks head into the match against United unbeaten in their last six, thanks to wins over Chelsea and Crystal Palace<\/a>, as well as draws with Liverpool home and away, as well as stalemates with Brentford and Sunderland<\/a>.<\/p>\n Speaking about the task at hand earlier this week, Daniel Farke said: “For everyone who is connected with Leeds United, it is a special game. We always have a chance and we will try our very best also to fulfil the dreams of our supporters.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have fought so hard over the last two years to be back on Premier League level to have these types of games and especially also, of course, this fixture.
