Former Ireland hooker Bernard Jackman will recommend to World Rugby that they change the law around knock-ons at the end of games.<\/b><\/p>\n
His comments come after Munster\u2019s encounter with Leinster concluded when Rieko Ioane knocked the ball on while completing a tackle.<\/p>\n
It was not deliberate and the visitors were able to recover possession, meaning that the home side did not gain an advantage from Ioane\u2019s<\/a> actions with the referee \u2013 correctly in the laws of the game \u2013 blowing the final whistle.<\/p>\n That is not an unusual occurrence, with many matches down the years ending the same way, but it doesn\u2019t make it any better in the eyes of Jackman.<\/p>\n The ex-Leinster<\/a> forward feels that it is an unsavoury way to conclude a contest, particularly when there is less than a converted try between the teams.<\/p>\n Leo Cullen\u2019s men were 13-8 ahead when the clock hit the red and Munster<\/a> spent the next two minutes attacking deep inside the opposition half.<\/p>\n They got themselves inside the 22 and were threatening to earn a dramatic late victory, but Ioane\u2019s intervention relieved the pressure.<\/p>\n Looking to convince World Rugby<\/p>\n Jackman therefore hopes World Rugby changes that law and has stated that he will propose that amendment when meeting with the governing body\u2019s bigwigs.<\/p>\n Bernard Jackman: \u2018Negativity\u2019 from the likes of Tadhg Beirne \u2018blinding\u2019 Ireland as they risk being \u2018left behind\u2019<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe saw it during the Women\u2019s World Cup. Fans get short-changed by it a little bit.<\/p>\n \u201cWe stop the games for other things so it leaves a bit of a sour taste.
