{"id":674182,"date":"2026-01-04T22:43:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T22:43:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/674182\/"},"modified":"2026-01-04T22:43:18","modified_gmt":"2026-01-04T22:43:18","slug":"prince-harry-nailed-on-to-have-armed-security-reinstated-in-the-uk-sources-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/674182\/","title":{"rendered":"Prince Harry &#8216;nailed on&#8217; to have armed security reinstated in the UK, sources say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t\t\t\t\tA fresh risk assessment has reportedly determined that he now meets the threshold for official protection\t\t\t\t\t                <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"post_in-line_link\" href=\"https:\/\/inews.co.uk\/topic\/prince-harry?srsltid=AfmBOoqu5Sbxpmg3auc85Vaa0YMpBLVOcG70gQDCFNzsJLPKtkDOBGfb&amp;ico=in-line_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Harry<\/a> could soon have his armed police protection reinstated for when he visits the UK, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>Sources told The Mail On Sunday that Home Office insiders suggest security was \u201cnailed on\u201d for the Duke of Sussex, who lost a high-profile legal case against the Government\u2019s <a class=\"post_in-line_link\" href=\"https:\/\/inews.co.uk\/news\/prince-harry-loses-appeal-over-downgraded-security-while-in-the-uk-3671703?srsltid=AfmBOoqLdhGxeuA1ohye7y28B-N_wHoerQpAfLTNzDFfWgaxNxqkX4rE&amp;ico=in-line_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">over his security being downgraded<\/a> in May.<\/p>\n<p>A<a class=\"post_in-line_link\" href=\"https:\/\/inews.co.uk\/news\/prince-harry-security-uk-reviewed-home-office-4093070?srsltid=AfmBOoosErV_dDkYcLJsterYDxOD5C_vwHbd-el3ZL5pCxT1qNS7704-&amp;ico=in-line_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> fresh risk assessment <\/a>carried out for the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec) has reportedly determined that Harry now meets the threshold for official protection.<\/p>\n<p>A source close to the Sussexes told the newspaper: \u201cIt\u2019s now a formality. Sources at the Home Office have indicated that security is now nailed on for Harry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is claimed a ruling to give him back automatic taxpayer-funded police protection will made in his favour in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Prince Harry\u2019s protection was removed in 2020 after his decision to step back from his role as a working royal.<\/p>\n<p>Ravec, a organisation overseen by the Home Office, launched a new risk assessment after the Duke wrote to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood in September, and called for a reappraisal.<\/p>\n<p>Insiders close to Harry say that a reinstatement of armed security has been assured. One said: \u201cIt\u2019s now a formality. Sources at the Home Office have indicated that security is now nailed on for Harry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Prince has repeatedly argued that it is not safe for his family to visit the UK without 24-hour armed protection.<\/p>\n<p>Currently he must inform the Metropolitan Police 30 days before arriving in the country in order to apply for a security review. The reviews are carried out on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n<p>Harry\u2019s lawyers have argued that his \u201cmanifestly inferior\u201d security has put his life \u201cat stake\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the claims the protection is due to be reinstated, a Government spokesperson said: \u201cThe UK Government\u2019s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate.
