{"id":674904,"date":"2026-01-05T07:01:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T07:01:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/674904\/"},"modified":"2026-01-05T07:01:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T07:01:12","slug":"wolf-moon-lights-up-skies-across-south-of-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/674904\/","title":{"rendered":"Wolf Moon lights up skies across south of England"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The first full moon of 2026 has lit up skies across the south of England. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">It was the fourth supermoon in a row, following October&#8217;s Harvest Moon, November&#8217;s Beaver Moon and the Cold Moon in December. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The January moon is known in the Northern Hemisphere as the Wolf Moon, coming at a time of the year when it was believed wolves howled more due to there being less food around.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">BBC Weather Watchers have been capturing images of the Wolf Moon as it reached its peak. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">It is also sometimes called the Old Moon or Ice Moon and is referred to as a supermoon because it looks larger. This caused by its elliptical orbit bringing it closer to the Earth. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">There will not be another chance to see a moon so large and bright until November.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The first full moon of 2026 has lit up skies across the south of England.
