attitude towards car usage and encouraging walking, wheeling and cycling.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He explained: &#8220;We want people to feel that they&#8217;re able to realistically choose these options for everyday journeys.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We want to seek improvements to public transport and make spaces more welcoming, attractive, accessible and less car-dominated.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I think it&#8217;s a really positive step for Glasgow and something that we&#8217;ve talked about as a city for a long time.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>David Gow, Emma Newman, Chinenye Vera Okonkwo, Artian Lushaku (Image: Police Scotland\/Newsquest)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Chief Superintendent Hilary Sloan (Image: Police Scotland)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  We previously reported that Glasgow had more road incidents involving injury or death than anywhere else in Scotland over the last four years, with figures totalling 772.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In October last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/25158943.glasgow-city-council-news-interviews-updates\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow City Council<\/a> received \u00a31m from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/scottish-government\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scottish Government<\/a>\u2019s Road Safety Improvement Fund as part of a national effort to reduce road deaths.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  This was announced after 14 people lost their lives on Glasgow&#8217;s roads in 2023 &#8211; including two children\u00a0&#8211; and\u00a0over 200 others were seriously injured.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  French student Emma Newman, Nigerian student Chinenye Vera Okonkwo, 79-year-old David Gow, cyclist\u00a0John Morton,\u00a0five-year-old Ayan Khan Nooreen\u00a0and\u00a013-year-old Artian Lushaku\u00a0were just some of the victims.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Chief Superintendent Hilary Sloan, head of road policing,\u00a0said at the time: \u201cI urge every driver and road user to think about their behaviour on the road, be considerate towards others and help us make Scotland\u2019s roads safe for everyone.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWe all have a responsibility to use our roads safely and to help save lives.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Glasgow Times is running a series this week exploring the upcoming rollout of the 20mph zones across the city.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Do you have a story?
