The Michelin Guide has announced its latest additions for April 2025, its first restaurant release since ‘stars’ ceremony – and a Bristol restaurant<\/a> is among those making the list.<\/p>\n

Korean restaurant Dongnae, which is on Chandos Road in Redland and opened in September 2024, is the latest venture from the husband-and-wife team behind another popular venue in Bristol, Bokman.<\/p>\n

Of Dongnae, The Michelin Guide<\/a> said: “If you happen to live on or around Chandos Road in the Redland area of Bristol, then all we can say is: congratulations.<\/p>\n

“In yet more great news for the local dining scene \u2013 which is already having quite the year after Wilsons<\/a> won a Michelin star and its next-door neighbour Little Hollows Pasta<\/a> was awarded a Bib Gourmand \u2013 the terrific Korean eatery Dongnae has now been added to our selection.<\/p>\n

“Authentic, complex and bursting at the seams with exuberant flavours, the cooking is well worth adding to your Bristol to-do list.”<\/p>\n

The Guide in general described the latest addition as giving Bristol a ‘further boost’ in its ‘most foodie suburbs’.<\/p>\n

A total of eight restaurants have been added to the prestigious guide in the Great Britain and Ireland selection for the month of April, including one in Cardiff, one in Newquay, and several in London.<\/p>\n

BristolLive visited Dongnae back in October 2024, giving it a rating of five stars.<\/a><\/p>\n

Our reviewer dined on menu items such as cocktails, fried vegetable tempura, spicy water kimchi, thinly-sliced beef grilled on charcoal, grilled mushrooms, mushroom dolsotbap, clam and mussel bibimbap, Janchi noodles, and a dessert of delica squash withblack sesame injeolmi.<\/p>\n

In our review, we wrote: “A much-more spacious restaurant than the one off Stokes Croft, it has a sophisticated and smart vibe; a more done up Bokman. However, as it seems to be the theme with restaurants along Chandos Road, the atmosphere felt relaxed and unpretentious.<\/p>\n

“Having had a really lovely meal, I left feeling like this team truly know how to run a restaurant.<\/p>\n

“Despite having been open for less than a week, Dongnae felt like it had been part of Chandos Road for a long time already.”<\/p>\n

Other reviewers describe Dongnae as being “quaint and beautiful” with food that is “packed with flavour”, “bold and creative flavours” – and one even described it as being “the best lunch I’ve had in years”.<\/p>\n
