Sophy is gearing up to welcome its first customers on Friday, May 2\"SophySophy in Digbeth officially opens on Friday, May 2(Image: Sophy)<\/p>\n

A new Digbeth bar that promises to serve up ‘cocktails, attitude and good vibes only’ is set to open to the public for the first time this weekend.<\/p>\n

Sophy Digbeth<\/a> will be a sister bar to Sophy Leicester and it takes over the former Kilo Ziro at the Custard Factory.<\/p>\n

The bar has been designed to be a ‘safe space’ that’s predominantly targeted at women, with a ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards harassment brought in by a female-led team.<\/p>\n

The doors will open on Friday, May 2 at 5pm, with 90s and 00s music to be played across both floors until 4am.<\/p>\n

Sophy says it has turned the old Kilo Ziro into a ‘stunning’ new space that’s ‘made for a girls’ night out’ with classic cocktails on the menu including pornstar martinis and old fashioneds, but with specials such as the dragonfruit blaze, pretty and pink and a spicy Te-Kill-Ya.<\/p>\n

Bar manager Roxi said: “Following the success of Sophy Bar in Leicester, we’re thrilled to be opening our first Birmingham<\/a> venue in the heart of Digbeth, Birmingham’s Creative Quarter.<\/p>\n

“Sophy Bar will offer a lively, inclusive, and safe space primarily aimed at women, with cocktail parties, live music, and DJ events, including 80s and 90s nights, Spanish nights, and much more.<\/p>\n

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone this weekend!”<\/p>\n

The venue is then preparing for a ‘Cocktail and Spanish night’ on Saturday, May 3, opening from 5pm until 4am with free entry downstairs and a ticketed event<\/a> upstairs. Sunday will see DJs and cocktails from 7pm until 4am.<\/p>\n

Kilo Ziro closed back in February<\/a> after the owners welcomed a new baby.<\/p>\n

There are a number of new ventures in Digbeth that have been revealed in recent months with Low Places honky-tonk launching in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the old Kerryman pub is currently undergoing a revamp<\/a> as bosses work on a brand new bar packed with nods to cult movies.<\/p>\n
