{"id":67659,"date":"2025-05-02T06:08:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-02T06:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/67659\/"},"modified":"2025-05-02T06:08:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-02T06:08:09","slug":"jack-draper-explains-why-he-still-doubts-himself-every-day-amid-his-recent-hot-form-at-the-madrid-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/67659\/","title":{"rendered":"Jack Draper explains why he still doubts himself &#8216;every day&#8217; amid his recent hot form at the Madrid Open"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Jack Draper has continued his impressive form at this year\u2019s Madrid Open, sweeping aside Matteo Arnaldi in just 77 minutes to reach the semi-finals.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That victory followed a comfortable win against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/tommy-paul\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tommy Paul<\/a>, the British number 1 disposing of the American 6-2 6-2.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/jack-draper-gives-his-honest-opinion-on-clay-courts-after-winning-his-opening-match-in-monte-carlo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Draper has struggled on clay in recent years<\/a>, but is now through to his first Masters 1000 semi-final on the surface. <\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old is looking to clinch a second Masters 1000 title at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/madrid-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Madrid Open<\/a>, having completed the feat for the first time at Indian Wells in March. <\/p>\n<p>However, despite enjoying a promising first four months of the 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ATP<\/a> season, Draper says he still doubts himself on tour. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/GettyImages-2212759998-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Photo by Clive Brunskill\/Getty Images\" class=\"wp-image-86940\" \/>Photo by Clive Brunskill\/Getty ImagesJack Draper says making sacrifices on tour has him doubting himself every day<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after his Round of 16 victory over Tommy Paul, Draper explained that the sacrifices he makes on tour make him wonder how much longer he can keep going. <\/p>\n<p>The Briton said: \u201cThere\u2019s no denying that in any professional sport, especially tennis, it\u2019s so relentless. We\u2019re playing, we\u2019re competing, we\u2019re away from our families \u2013 we\u2019re just sacrificing our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you do this sport properly and give it everything every day, it\u2019s tough, and I doubt myself every day. Can I keep going? If you want to be great, then these are the things you have to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know how long I\u2019ll play for. I don\u2019t know if I\u2019ll play till mid-30s. I\u2019m just gonna try and make the best out of my career and hopefully try and fill my potential.
