Hawkins Brown\u2019s turnover has fallen by 16% over the past year following staff cuts which have seen its average number of employees reduced by 49.<\/p>\n

The practice behind the Manchester Metropolitan University\u2019s downsized All Saints Library earned \u00a329.5m in the year to 31 March 2025, down from \u00a335.3m in the year before while its pre-tax profit slumped by 79% from \u00a31.3m to just \u00a3267,000.<\/p>\n

The Clerkenwell-based firm\u2019s average number of employees also fell 15% during the period, from 318 to 269, with its total number of technical staff down from 262 to 215.<\/p>\n

The cuts helped bring down the firm\u2019s wage bill from \u00a317m in 2024 to \u00a315.2m in 2025 while the total amount it owed to creditors also fell from \u00a35.2m to \u00a34m.<\/p>\n

Its income from the UK, by far the firm\u2019s largest market, fell from \u00a333.3m to \u00a328m and its revenue overseas slid from \u00a32m to \u00a31.4m.<\/p>\n

Hawkins Brown was forced to drastically redesign its \u00a390m plans for Manchester\u2019s All Saints LIbrary<\/a> due to rising construction costs, submitting a much-pared back scheme<\/a> in December.<\/p>\n

Other projects the practice started work on during the accounting period include a refurbishment of the grade II*-listed Norwich City Hall.<\/p>\n

The practice is also working with Acme on a major redevelopment of London\u2019s Victoria Station<\/a> for Network Rail, which is expected to be unveiled this year.<\/p>\n
