Some schools have closed while others pushed their opening time to allow pupils to arrive safely\"TheFortis Academy in Great Barr was closed today, Tuesday, January 6, because of snow with lessons moved online.<\/p>\n

Several Birmingham schools were closed today, Tuesday, January 6, due to freezing temperatures and snow.<\/p>\n

It was the second successive day of disruption for some sites after the cold snap coincided with the return to lessons following the Christmas<\/a> and New Year break.<\/p>\n

Learning was moved online while other schools opted to open after 9am.<\/p>\n

Oasis Watville Academy in Handsworth posted: “Due to significantly low temperatures in school, we have unfortunately had to take the decision to close the school today.<\/p>\n

“We will continue to monitor the situation and will update parents as soon as we can regarding tomorrow.<\/p>\n

“Please assume school will be open as usual unless you hear otherwise.<\/p>\n

Quinton Church School was open but moved its start time back from 8.45am to 9.15am to give pupils more time to arrive safely.<\/p>\n

Fortis Academy and Sixth Form off Aldridge Road in Great Barr said: “Important update: learning moves online today.<\/p>\n

“Due to snow and icy conditions on site and the difficultly traveling across the city, all learning will be online today.<\/p>\n

“Students can access work on Showbie and check emails for teacher updates.<\/p>\n

“Exams: Students with scheduled exams must still attend in person.
