A jockey has been fined for alleged \u2018serious verbal abuse\u2019 of a car park attendant. Liam Quinlan, a jump jockey with 56 career wins in Ireland, was riding at the meeting at Tramore on New Year<\/a>\u2019s Day where he had one mount.<\/p>\n A bumper crowd of 7,500 had seen local trainer Henry De Bromhead capture the feature prize, the O’Driscoll’s Irish Whiskey Chase with Heart Wood. Quinlan was riding in the day\u2019s final race in which his horse Toor Moon went off a 9-2 chance for a 2m7f handicap chase but was beaten a total of 41 lengths when finishing ninth of ten, having cut out some of the running.<\/p>\n However he had been reported to the stewards by car park attendant Peter Keane who claimed he had received ‘serious verbal abuse’ from the jockey after he told him the car park was full.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Jockey, 23, opens up on ‘pressure and stress’ after deciding to quit race-riding<\/a>READ MORE: Racing wiped out in Britain after \u2018all-weather\u2019 track left unraceable by snow and frost<\/a><\/p>\n Quinlan denied being \u2018really abusive\u2019 but he was found in breach of Racing’s Rule 272 which deals with misconduct and behaviour that is prejudicial to the reputation of horseracing.<\/p>\n Quinlan, from Littleton, County Tipperary, turned professional in 2019 with his biggest success coming on Sequoiaspirit in the valuable Tara Handicap Hurdle at Navan in 2024. He has ridden six winners this season.<\/p>\n The stewards report said: “The Raceday Stewards received a report from Mr. Peter Keane, a parking attendant on the day, that he received serious verbal abuse from rider L. Quinlan.<\/p>\n “Evidence was heard from Mr. Peter Keane who stated that on informing L. Quinlan that the car park was full he received continual serious verbal abuse.<\/p>\n “Evidence was also heard from L. Quinlan who stated that he attempted to park in what he deemed to be the jockeys carpark, however Mr Keane advised him that the carpark was full.<\/p>\n “He further stated that he was not really abusive. Having considered the matter the Raceday Stewards found L.
