Former world champion boxer Josh Taylor<\/a> was reportedly involved in a Hogmanay brawl and now faces a “ban” from the bar. The recently retired prizefighter <\/a>allegedly became entangled in the dispute at a boozer in Haddington while attending a private event at the venue on December 31.<\/p>\n Taylor<\/a> allegedly tussled with another man and CCTV shows one of them being put in a “headlock” while the other was “picked up” and “pushed away”, according to the pub boss, but he said no punches<\/a> were thrown, reports Edinburgh Live.<\/a><\/p>\n The incident resulted in both men<\/a> being ejected from the pub. The publican said: “There was a bit of pushing. One threw the other to the ground. They were pulled apart and separated. They pulled out different exits.”<\/p>\n Staff have been advised not to serve either individual<\/a> if they return to the bar. The boss added “there will be a ban” on both men but “I don’t know how long for”.<\/p>\n He continued: “They will both be barred for causing a scene on Hogmanay. This is one strike. I have not decided what their punishment is going to be.”<\/p>\n The pub boss called the dispute “argumentative nonsense” and “two alpha males [who] had too much to drink”.<\/p>\n A second source said an altercation had taken place between Taylor and a local man with the matter being dealt with “internally”. They added: “The incident has been the subject of local discussion in the days following New Year.”<\/p>\n Josh Taylor<\/a> became an undisputed champion after unifying the light welterweight division with a series of stunning wins. He secured all four belts in the 140lb division, winning against Regis Prograis<\/a> in the World Boxing Super Series Final.<\/p>\n As an amatuer, the boxer also won gold and silver medals at the Commonwealth Games<\/a> and qualified for the London Olympics in 2012. He retired at the age of 34 in July 2025 upon advice from doctors due to a recurring issue with his right eye.<\/p>\n Taylor<\/a> said in a statement at the time: “As has been published before, I’ve had a recurring issue with my eye that unfortunately means I now have to call time on my career or risk losing my eyesight.<\/p>\n “I am just a kid from the Pans who scaled the very top of the sport but I could not have done it without those who have supported me, through thick and thin.
