{"id":678087,"date":"2026-01-06T16:55:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T16:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/678087\/"},"modified":"2026-01-06T16:55:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-06T16:55:11","slug":"inside-prince-harrys-possible-return-to-the-u-k-after-security-win-excl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/678087\/","title":{"rendered":"Inside Prince Harry&#8217;s Possible Return to the U.K. After Security Win (Excl)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A royal expert is weighing in on what\u2019s next for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrities\/prince-harry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Prince Harry<\/strong><\/a> after the Duke of Sussex won his years-long U.K. security battle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a huge victory for Harry, and opens the door fairly wide for his return to the U.K. sometime in the near future,\u201d royal author <strong>Christopher Andersen<\/strong>, who wrote the book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Brothers-Inside-Private-Worlds-William\/dp\/1982159723\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brothers and Wives<\/a>, told Us Weekly exclusively on Monday, January 5.<\/p>\n<p>A recent report published by the Mail on Sunday claimed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/prince-harry-reportedly-wins-u-k-battle-for-security-after-appeals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harry\u2019s drawn-out battle for government-funded security<\/a> in the U.K. had come to an end. After the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) conducted their risk assessment review of Harry\u2019s trips to the U.K., it was apparently decided that he is eligible for armed protection going forward.<\/p>\n<p>Team Sussex declined to comment on the Mail on Sunday report.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<a class=\"article__thumbnail related-ab-test\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/pictures\/prince-harry-fights-for-u-k-security-everything-to-know\/\" target=\"\" data-source=\"00\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Everything-Know-About-Prince-Harry-Fight-Security-UK-0007.jpg?crop=0px%2C0px%2C1651px%2C932px&amp;resize=400%2C225&amp;quality=70&amp;strip=all\"   alt=\"Everything Know About Prince Harry Fight Security UK\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" data-fallback-img=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Everything-Know-About-Prince-Harry-Fight-Security-UK-0007.jpg?quality=70&amp;strip=all\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<a class=\"article__title-link related-ab-test\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/pictures\/prince-harry-fights-for-u-k-security-everything-to-know\/\" target=\"\" data-source=\"00\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n    Related: Everything to Know About Prince Harry\u2018s Fight for Security in the U.K.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tSince stepping down from senior royal duties in January 2020, Prince Harry has found himself in a battle for his family\u2019s protection in the U.K. Upon losing his former public-funded security personnel after moving from England to California, Harry applied for judicial review in January 2022 to fund his family\u2019s own protection during U.K. visits. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Andersen speculated to Us that <strong>King Charles III<\/strong> didn\u2019t have much to do with the recent decision. However, he does agree that it would be \u201cnice\u201d to think that this was a father helping his son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI doubt very much that he put his very heavy thumb on the scale,\u201d Andersen said of the monarch. \u201cCharles is a huge believer in sticking to the rules and letting the professionals \u2014 in this case the Home Office and the Metropolitan Police \u2014 decide who qualifies for royal security protection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harry and his wife, <strong>Meghan Markle<\/strong>, lost their government-funded security in 2020 after stepping down as senior members of the royal family. Since relocating to the United States, Harry has been estranged from his family. The U.K.\u2019s Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC), which oversees government-funded security protection for the royal family and specific VIPs, has instructed its risk management board [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis puts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/how-prince-harrys-u-k-security-impacts-wife-meghan-markle-excl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meghan in a rather awkward position<\/a>, since I really don\u2019t think she is eager to return to what she sees as a somewhat hostile environment,\u201d Andersen said, noting that Harry and Meghan\u2019s return to the U.K. will be contingent on Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, starting \u201cto forge some sort of real relationship with their grandfather.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCharles is a huge softy when it comes to his grandkids, so I\u2019m sure they\u2019d be welcomed with open arms,\u201d Andersen added. \u201cBut that doesn\u2019t mean that Harry will ever be fully embraced by the royal family and allowed to return to some sort of semi-official role.
