A second suspect was arrested while a boy, 15, and girl, 14, remain in hospital<\/p>\n

A schoolboy was charged with attempted murder after a double stabbing. Emergency services, including armed police, were called to Whitefield Drive, in Kirkby<\/a>, at around 8.25pm on Wednesday, April 30.<\/p>\n

A 15-year-old boy suffered a number of stab wounds<\/a> to the body and a 14-year-old girl suffered a single stab wound to the chest. Detectives have since charged a 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, with attempted murder and section 18 wounding with intent.<\/p>\n

The boy, who was also charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place, was remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Youth Remand court today, Friday, May 2.<\/p>\n

The two injured teenagers remain in hospital in a stable condition, police added. Detectives have also arrested a second suspect \u2013 a 15-year-old boy – on suspicion of attempted murder and s18 wounding with intent. He is currently in custody where he will be questioned by detectives.<\/p>\n

When the ECHO <\/a>went to the scene on Thursday, a cordon remained outside the Johnny Todd pub and a Go Local store. Blue tarpaulin also covered a bin next to a bus stop and detectives could be seen making door-to-door enquiries.<\/p>\n

Later on in the morning, a mobile police station was set up at the scene. Neighbours living in the area described their shock at what happened.<\/p>\n

A high visibility police presence remains in the Kirkby area. Merseyside Police said this was to reassure the community and a Section 60 order, which gives officers enhanced powers to stop and search individuals across the area and prevent serious violence, remains in place until 6pm today.<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Graeme Osborne said: \u201cEven though we have made arrests and a charge our investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n

“We are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward. Knives have no place on the streets of Merseyside and we will continue to do everything within our powers to find the people carrying and using weapons and bringing them to justice.\u201d<\/p>\n
