Promotion-winning Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has lifted the lid on talks with chairman Paraag Marathe just hours after his whistle-stop tour of Ibrox with the Rangers takeover<\/a> looming.<\/p>\n The investment wing of the San Francisco 49ers<\/a> – of which Elland Road chief Marathe is President – saw the red carpet rolled out for them on Tuesday alongside Andrew Cavenagh. It comes as they close in on control at Rangers<\/a> following on from steering Leeds back to the English Premier League.<\/p>\n Despite masterminding a return to the top flight, Farke is facing scrutiny over his position as boss.<\/p>\n Reports suggest that having led Norwich City to relegation from the Premier League promise land on two occasions he could be shown the door by 49ers Enterprises.<\/p>\n It has also been claimed that there are tensions behind the scenes in Yorkshire over the transfer strategy that is set to be put in place this summer.<\/p>\n But the boss has attempted to drown out the noise – insisting that he held talks with Marathe over big plans for the future on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n This included over recruitment as well as long-term improvements to the training ground and stadium – which could hint at the priorities of the NFL heavyweights when they take charge of the Scottish Premiership giants.<\/p>\n Farke said: “We’ve got a really trustful and really good relationship.<\/p>\n “I talked to Paraag last night. We are already speaking about a few things, what we want to do in the future.<\/p>\n “It also lasted a while until I said yes to Leeds because I wanted to speak, two years ago, about a few things.<\/p>\n “It was not an easy decision to go back to the Championship. For no other club, would I have taken the challenge of this big race in the Championship.<\/p>\n “We’re working pretty hard to have a proper budget. You need to make sure you improve in every department.<\/p>\n “We have to invest in the training ground. We have to invest in the playing squad.<\/p>\n “There will, hopefully, be many new incomings, quality and the right players to improve you. That’s quite important. We want to invest in the stadium anyhow. You have to improve every day as a club in all areas.<\/p>\n “This is what we’re working on. It’s not just one simple target, you just sign one or two players and that’s it, you have to be good in many decisions.”<\/p>\n And Marathe and Co have been warned against showing the boss the door off the back of second-tier success by Simon Grayson.<\/p>\n Asked if he deserves a crack at the Premier League, the former United boss told The Sun: “One hundred per cent he does.<\/p>\n “It’s been a remarkable season for Leeds and the biggest accolade you can give Daniel is that there has been no hangover from losing the play-off final last season.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_Leeds-United-FC-v-Bristol-City-FC-Sky-Bet-Championship.jpg\")
