Antoine Semenyo<\/a> is edging closer to a blockbuster move to Manchester City<\/a>. It\u2019s understood that all documents have now been exchanged and everything agreed, with Semenyo set to undergo a medical this Thursday.\u00a0Pep Guardiola\u2019s<\/a> side were willing to activate Semenyo\u2019s release clause of\u00a0\u20ac74.5m release clause that is active between January 1st and January 10th.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Numerous English top-flight teams had been linked with Semenyo but City look like getting their man. Arsenal<\/a>, Liverpool<\/a> and Manchester United<\/a> all held an interest in the Ghanaian international but his preference was to join Guardiola\u2019s men. It\u2019s expected that personal terms are agreed and Semenyo will likely join the reigning champions later this week.<\/p>\n \nWhy Manchester City want Semenyo<\/p>\n It might raise eyebrows why Man City are so eager to sign Semenyo as they aren\u2019t short of players that can be deployed in wide areas. Semenyo has predominantly played on the left-wing and J\u00e9r\u00e9my Doku<\/a> has impressed in that role for City this season. Moreover, Savinho<\/a> and Omar Marmoush<\/a> can both occupy that position and City paid \u20ac75 million just last January to sign the latter from Frankfurt.<\/p>\n But City clearly believe that Semenyo is an attractive market opportunity at a reasonable price and he could be decisive in their bid to win the Premier League title. Semenyo has been outstanding for Bournemouth across the last 18 months and he\u2019s registered 12 goal contributions in the league this season – only Erling Haaland<\/a> and Igor Thiago<\/a> have more.
