Scores of arrests have been made in Birmingham overnight as police made a New Year’s vow.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> said it is committed to tackling crime in our region with the public also playing their part.<\/p>\n

In a statement, police said: “Our officers have had a busy shift overnight as they patrolled the regions roads.<\/p>\n

“At around 4.30am this morning (6 Jan), officers from our operations Unit spotted a cloned car in Shard End, believed to be stolen and involved in a recent car theft.<\/p>\n

“The car was stopped on Chelmsley Road and two men aged 23 were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. A balaclava was also recovered.<\/p>\n

“On Percy Road in Sparkhill, officers pulled over a car suspected of having drugs on board.<\/p>\n

“A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and remains in custody.<\/p>\n

“Meanwhile, officers in Birmingham city centre<\/a>, detained a driver on Digbeth<\/a> High Street after checks proved he didn\u2019t have a driving licence.<\/p>\n

“We seized the car, and the 18-year-old will be reported for driving offences.<\/p>\n
