{"id":679656,"date":"2026-01-07T09:55:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T09:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/679656\/"},"modified":"2026-01-07T09:55:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T09:55:12","slug":"record-breaking-hong-kong-powerlifter-and-dietitian-now-battles-bad-online-health-advice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/679656\/","title":{"rendered":"Record-breaking Hong Kong powerlifter and dietitian now battles bad online health advice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Jaclyn Hei Tsang was working at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong as a clinical dietitian in 2021 when she left her job to become a professional powerlifter.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Just a year after she became a full-time athlete, she set a Hong Kong record in the under-57kg (125lb) weight class when she bench pressed 90kg at the 2022 Hong Kong Powerlifting Championships.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">In the same competition, she squatted 120kg and dead lifted 151kg, for a total weight count of 361kg \u2013 also a Hong Kong record.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the 33-year-old dietitian, <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/lifestyle\/health-wellness\/article\/3279292\/how-family-inspired-hong-kong-teens-transformation-chubby-champion-powerlifter?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"noopener\">powerlifter<\/a> and personal trainer \u2013 and PhD candidate in sport science at the Education University of Hong Kong \u2013 is a fixture in the city\u2019s health and wellness arena, often appearing on talk shows and at sports events to speak about fitness.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Tsang came first in her weight division at the Asian Pacific African Bench Press Classic Championship 2023.
