{"id":680450,"date":"2026-01-07T18:17:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T18:17:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/680450\/"},"modified":"2026-01-07T18:17:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T18:17:13","slug":"fabrizio-romano-says-never-say-never-when-speaking-about-liverpool-signing-absolute-tank-in-january","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/680450\/","title":{"rendered":"Fabrizio Romano says &#8216;never say never&#8217; when speaking about Liverpool signing &#8216;absolute tank&#8217; in January"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>There hasn\u2019t been an awful lot of transfer buzz around Liverpool in this first week of the January window. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That shouldn\u2019t come as much of a surprise, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/2026\/01\/06\/what-senior-liverpool-figures-are-now-indicating-about-the-january-transfer-window\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">senior Liverpool figures expecting a quiet January<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not radio silence, though. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/2026\/01\/06\/35m-players-move-to-liverpool-is-now-starting-to-look-possible-this-month\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joel Ordonez is edging closer to a Liverpool move<\/a>, and other defenders are also being looked at. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"40\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/mail.png\" alt=\"mail icon\"\/>Join our newsletter for news &amp; smart analysis. <\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s one player who \u2014 if the Reds can get a deal over the line \u2014 would blow all other links out of the water, and Fabrizio Romano thinks it\u2019s possible. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"672\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GettyImages-2240400500-1024x672.jpg\" alt=\"Marc Guehi in action for England during a friendly against Wales at Wembley Stadium\" class=\"wp-image-268411\" \/>Photo by Catherine Ivill \u2013 AMA\/Getty ImagesFabrizio Romano not ruling Liverpool out of Marc Guehi race<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the saga that continues to roll on from the summer. <\/p>\n<p>Liverpool have identified <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/tag\/marc-guehi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marc Guehi<\/a> as their primary defensive target, but they are now in a race with Man City and Bayern Munich to win his signature. <\/p>\n<p>Romano discussed one of the stories of the window in a recent post to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EJqidAKqrE4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">YouTube<\/a>, where he reveals: \u201cLiverpool internally believe that it\u2019s going to be difficult to do the deal in January. But never say never. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would keep everything open on this story because Liverpool had the player in their hands in the summer transfer window. Then we know the deal collapsed. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo Liverpool remain interested. Bayern are still there. Use the comment button on the bottom left to have your say <\/p>\n<p>There have been growing concerns that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/2026\/01\/07\/man-city-can-now-offer-marc-guehi-something-liverpool-simply-cant-under-slot-this-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guehi will be tempted to join the title race with City<\/a>, while Liverpool languish below the leading pack in the Premier League. <\/p>\n<p>But Romano\u2019s information is that a move, while potentially difficult, can\u2019t be ruled out. <\/p>\n<p>Guehi wanted Liverpool in the summer <\/p>\n<p>One thing that works in Liverpool\u2019s favour with the Guehi situation is that he made up his mind to come to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/club\/anfield-stadium-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anfield<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>It was only at the last minute that the deal fell through. <\/p>\n<p> Jamie Carragher thinks Liverpool made a mistake not signing Marc Guehi <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThat was a bad mistake [not signing Marc Guehi]. Liverpool are known as being really smart in the market, not overpaying and really good at selling. That could cost them.
