{"id":680482,"date":"2026-01-07T18:36:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T18:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/680482\/"},"modified":"2026-01-07T18:36:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T18:36:12","slug":"decathlon-to-acquire-parts-of-intersport-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/680482\/","title":{"rendered":"Decathlon to acquire parts of Intersport Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Decathon<\/strong> informed Spain\u2019s National Commission of Markets and Competition (<strong>CNMC<\/strong>) on Dec. 31 that it intends to acquire <strong>Intersport Spain<\/strong>\u2019s buying group and services, according to Diffusion Sport.<\/p>\n<p>The CNMC has a month to gauge the transaction\u2019s effects on competition in the market, although it might decide to perform a deeper analysis over three or four additional months \u2013 and thus take things into April or May.<\/p>\n<p>An indebted Intersport Spain filed for pre-insolvency in the summer of 2024, filed for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sgieurope.com\/corporate\/intersport-spain-files-for-insolvency\/113368.article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">voluntary insolvency<\/a> in February 2025 and entered\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sgieurope.com\/corporate\/intersport-spain-liquidating\/116292.article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">liquidation<\/a> in August 2025. At least three companies \u2013 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sgieurope.com\/corporate\/base-detall-sport-signals-willingness-to-negotiate-with-intersport-spain\/109538.article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Base Detall Sport<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Eren<\/strong> (owner of <strong>Intersport Turkey<\/strong>) and <strong>Intersport France<\/strong> \u2013 had looked shortly before into acquiring Intersport Spain. Intersport France at last <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sgieurope.com\/retail\/intersport-france-takes-over-iberian-ops\/117809.article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stepped up<\/a> in November, adding the 385 Iberian stores to its own 813 in France and 127 in Belgium.
