{"id":680528,"date":"2026-01-07T19:02:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T19:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/680528\/"},"modified":"2026-01-07T19:02:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T19:02:13","slug":"christchurch-park-adventure-golf-plans-win-unanimous-backing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/680528\/","title":{"rendered":"Christchurch Park adventure golf plans win unanimous backing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  At a meeting of Ipswich Borough Council&#8217;s planning and development committee on Wednesday, January 7, the committee voted in favour of plans for the new course in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipswichstar.co.uk\/news\/25425961.plans-18-hole-adventure-golf-course-christchurch-park\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Christchurch Park.<\/strong><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Each hole will have feature a different obstacle, whether it be rocks, water hazards, loop the loop, humps or bridges, providing different challengers for golfers.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>The site of the adventure golf course (Image: Google maps)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Members of the committee believed that the application is in keeping with the western strip of Christchurch Park, which is also home the outdoor gym and the tennis courts.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Councillor Carole Jones said that the adventure course &#8220;gives families another reason to come to the park&#8221; and Colin Kreidewolf said that he &#8220;absolutely supported the application.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  There were concerns raised over the toilets at the site, with no plans for new facilities.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Whilst the golf course will feature characters and statues to fit the theme, planning officers noted that care had been taken to ensure the course will be &#8220;sensitive&#8221; to its location.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Planning officers said that staff at the kiosk next to the site will have keys for the toilets and will be able to let customers use them.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The course will be built on the old lawn bowls green <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipswichstar.co.uk\/news\/25727908.ipswich-christchurch-park-golf-course-set-approval\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">and was recommended for approval by the council&#8217;s planning officers prior to the meeting.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Officers have also worked extensively with the Friends of Christchurch Park group and the applicant to address concerns that arose in the pre-planning application.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  This included noise and environmental concerns which have been addressed in conditions as part of the planning approval.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipswichstar.co.uk\/news\/25723452.nature-england-no-objection-christchurch-park-golf\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prior to the meeting the course plans were backed by Natural England in December.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"At a meeting of Ipswich Borough Council&#8217;s planning and development committee on Wednesday, January 7, the committee voted&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":680529,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4106],"tags":[2826,79,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-680528","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-golf","8":"tag-golf","9":"tag-sports","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/115855369354611663","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/680528","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=680528"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/680528\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/680529"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=680528"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=680528"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=680528"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
