Liverpool look set to miss out on yet another of their reported transfer targets this month.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It has been a humbling week for the Reds faithful, who are watching on as Manchester City potentially swoop for two of their transfer targets.<\/p>\n

Antoine Semenyo joining Pep Guardiola\u2019s team<\/a> has been all but confirmed by Fabrizio Romano this week.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Marc Guehi can leave Crystal Palace<\/a> in January, but again, Oliver Glasner mentioned the centre-back being approached by the Sky Blues, not Liverpool<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If Guehi does move to Manchester, the Reds may wish to look elsewhere to strengthen their very light centre-back department.<\/p>\n

However, one potential target now looks set to sign a new contract elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Dayot Upamecano signing new Bayern Munich contract<\/p>\n

Dayot Upamecano has been linked to Liverpool<\/a> this season amid his contract at Bayern Munich expiring at the end of June 2026.<\/p>\n

However, journalist Christian Falk now says on X\/Twitter that the Frenchman is close to a final agreement with the German powerhouse.<\/p>\n

He wrote: \u201cAccording to our information, Dayot Upamecano (27) is close to signing a contract extension with FC Bayern. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Club and the centre-back reached an agreement on most of the remaining sticking points (signing bonus, release clause), and the final agreement is expected shortly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another centre-back target now likely off the list, but there might be some more options for Liverpool to explore this month.<\/p>\n

Liverpool centre-back targets amid Marc Guehi and Dayot Upamecano blows<\/p>\n

Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck is reportedly a target<\/a> for the Merseyside outfit.<\/p>\n

Like Upamecano<\/a> and Guehi<\/a>, the German is due to be out of contract later this year and is not expected to sign a new contract.<\/p>\n

However, Schlotterbeck revealed his goals<\/a> in a recent interview and did seem to suggest he wants to win a championship in his home country, which may prevent a move to England anytime soon.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, RTK exclusively shared back in November that Liverpool were contacted over a possible Alessandro Bastoni transfer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bastoni is open to leaving Inter Milan<\/a> in 2026, but that may be one to watch for the summer, rather than this month.<\/p>\n
