A Good Samaritan has been praised after she is said to have rushed to the aid of a fellow audience member who collapsed at the New Year’s Eve show at The Bridgewater Hall.<\/a><\/p>\n

The iconic Manchester city centre<\/a> venue hosted a show called ‘Love is in the Air’ last Wednesday (December 31), where soloist and leading West End performer Miranda Wilford was backed by the Bridgewater Hall Concert Orchestra.<\/p>\n

However according to a witness, the show was halted when a woman in the audience collapsed. The Manchester Evening News understands she suffered a cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n

An eyewitness said a coronary nurse who was also in the audience immediately sprang into action to help. It is understood CPR was started prior to the arrival of paramedics.<\/p>\n

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS)<\/a> confirmed they were called to the venue on Lower Mosley Street at 8:11pm and that an ambulance, response vehicle and a number of senior paramedics all attended, along with the Helimed team who came by road. A woman in her 60s was taken to hospital.<\/p>\n

The witness said the nurse had ‘saved her life.’ The show was halted for an hour before resuming, they added.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the venue told the M.E.N: “We can confirm that a customer required medical assistance at the venue on New Year Eve.<\/p>\n

“Emergency services attended, and the individual was transferred to hospital.
