Arne Slot has revealed that he received a message of congratulations from former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp<\/a> after the Reds won the Premier League<\/a> on Sunday. Slot’s secured secured the title in his first campaign as head coach after taking over from the legendary Klopp in the summer.<\/p>\n

It was a remarkable achievement for the Dutchman, who many thought would take some time to put his stamp on the side after taking the reins from such an influential figure. But Slot’s Liverpool marched to the club’s 20th league championship with four games to spare after a 5-1 thumping of Tottenham Hotspur.<\/p>\n

Slot sang Klopp’s name on the Anfield<\/a> pitch following the victory in a moment that echoed the German’s final match in charge of the Reds, in which he revealed the former Feyenoord manager’s appointment by singing his name to the supporters.<\/p>\n

And Klopp – who shared an emotional message on Instagram on Sunday <\/a>– was delighted for Slot and his former side. Speaking in his press conference, Slot was asked who was the most famous person to text him following the game.<\/p>\n

He said: “That’s Jurgen. What did he have to say? What most of them said, congratulations! And now you know how special a club it is. Now you’re a part of this history. These kind of things.<\/p>\n

“He was really happy for me, the players, the staff and the fans. Like we all know with Jurgen. I think he was the most famous one. “<\/p>\n

Slot added: “(I’ve had) a lot of messages and 9\/10 times they are the same! But it comes from a good heart and it’s always nice. I’ve tried to answer all of them.<\/p>\n

“It’s been amazing, especially Sunday. For many of the fans it was the best day of their lives and I think it was the same for me. The way the whole day went, arriving at the stadium, the fans, then during the game, even going 1-0 behind so it felt like they weren’t going to give it to us, we had to work for it.<\/p>\n

Scoring the goals, seeing how much it meant to the players and fans.
