Former Australia batter Mark Waugh heaped enormous praise on India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, proclaiming that he is going to be one of the next great batters in Test cricket.<\/p>\n

During a studio show while doing commentary for the fifth Ashes Test in Sydney, Waugh was asked whom he believed was the batter that will dominate headlines in the net generation, and while he has faith in three, Jaiswal is the one that stands out <\/a>for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are three in the running: (Yashasvi) Jaiswal, (Harry) Brook, and (Rachin) Ravindra,\u201d he said on Kayo Sports. \u201cI am going with Jaiswal, 24 years of age. He has already got a double hundred and averages around 50. There\u2019s something special about this kid. I\u2019ve got Jaiswal as the next champion batter joining the elite group. Brilliant player, so that\u2019s my pick, the young Indian.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since making his debut in the West Indies, Jaiswal has made a habit of getting big scores every time he has his eye in. In 28 Tests, he already has seven hundreds and 13 fifties at an average of 49.23. Five of his seven tons are 150+ scores to go with his double century.<\/p>\n

Former England captain Michael Vaughan agreed with Waugh\u2019s assessment and insisted that India captain Shubman Gill<\/a> be added to the list. But the one he has resolutely backing his countryman Brook.<\/p>\n

While the 26-year-old, who has already become England\u2019s white-ball captain, has had an average tour of Australia over the past few months, he does have a formidable record in his 34-game Test career so far with 10 centuries and 14 fifties.<\/p>\n
