School closures could be announced on Thursday as Storm Goretti takes hold and brings further disruption to parts of the UK.<\/p>\n
The Met Office announced amber and yellow weather<\/a> warnings for parts of the UK on Thursday (January 8), which could lead to travel delays, rail cancellations and power cuts.<\/p>\n Many regions will be affected particularly in the South West England which was issued with a yellow weather warning, these include Bath<\/a> and North East Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, North Somerset<\/a>, Somerset, South Gloucestershire<\/a>, Swindon and Wiltshire.<\/p>\n Other regions affected include East Midlands, East of England, London & South East England, North East England, North West England, Wales, West Midlands and Yorkshire & Humber.<\/p>\n Named Storm Goretti<\/a> by M\u00e9t\u00e9o-France, a period of strong winds is also expected to impact southern England and Wales, especially in southwest of England where another Amber warning hit Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.<\/p>\n The largest snowfalls will most likely to be across Wales and parts of the Midlands according to the Met Office.<\/p>\n Rain will be an another hazard for parts of Wales and eastern England.<\/p>\n Met Office Chief Forecaster Neil Armstrong said: “Storm Goretti will be a multi-hazard event, with the most significant impacts from snow in parts of Wales and the Midlands, though rain and strong winds also have the potential to bring disruption to many.<\/p>\n “Goretti will bring snow on its northern edge, this most likely over Wales and the Midlands.
