appealed for information after an elderly man was\u00a0hit\u00a0by a car in Edinburgh\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deadlinenews.co.uk\/tag\/west-end\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West End<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deadlinenews.co.uk\/tag\/hogmanay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Year\u2019s Day<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the early hours of New Year\u2019s Day,\u00a0the unnamed\u00a081-year-old was struck by a white Suzuki while walking on Edinburgh\u2019s Queensferry Street, near <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dean_Bridge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dean Bridg<\/a>e.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Emergency services\u00a0soon arrived on\u00a0scene,\u00a0and the\u00a0OAP\u00a0was\u00a0rushed\u00a0to hospital with what were described as serious injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No other injuries were reported but police have now appealed to the public for information concerning the incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a not-transparent\"  \/><\/a>Dean Bridge, the scene of the apparent hit-and-run (C) Google<\/p>\n<p>They have appealed for anybody who was in the area and may have\u00a0witnessed\u00a0the crash to come forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They acknowledged that it was a busy time, with large numbers of pedestrians and cars on the street near the city centre and that many people could have\u00a0witnessed\u00a0the incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They have also asked anybody with dashcam footage from around that time and place to review their footage and come forward if they notice anything.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sergeant Christopher Bright of Road Policing East\u00a0said: \u201cWe are appealing to anyone who\u00a0witnessed\u00a0the crash or who has any information to come forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that this was a busy evening with it being Hogmanay and that there were\u00a0a number of\u00a0pedestrians and vehicles in the area at the time, so\u00a0we\u2019d\u00a0ask those who have yet to speak to us to get in touch.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition, we\u2019d ask those with dash-cam footage to review this to see if it has captured anything significant.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The car involved in the incident is understood to be a white Suzuki Ignis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Police have asked anybody with information to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0161 on 1 January
