{"id":682180,"date":"2026-01-08T12:23:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T12:23:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/682180\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T12:23:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T12:23:10","slug":"second-man-charged-with-absconding-from-open-prison-near-bristol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/682180\/","title":{"rendered":"Second man charged with absconding from open prison near Bristol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">A second man has been charged with absconding from an open prison on New Year&#8217;s Day.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A search had been under way for Daniel Washbourne after he failed to return to HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire alongside fellow prisoners Matthew Armstrong and Aaron Thomas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Washbourne, 40, who has previous convictions for violence, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/ce9yg59y5r0o\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was arrested in Bristol <\/a>on Wednesday and is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates&#8217; Court later charged with escaping lawful custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Armstrong, 35, a convicted murderer, was arrested by Warwickshire Police on Wednesday and remains in custody while Thomas, 39, was arrested on Saturday and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cd9exkdvenko\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appeared in court charged<\/a> with escaping from lawful custody on Monday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A second man has been charged with absconding from an open prison on New Year&#8217;s Day.
