A drunk woman crashed into a car while two children were sat in her back seat.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lynsay Houston was found to be almost five times over the limit after the collision in Glasgow\u2019s Partick on June 7, 2025.<\/p>\n

Glasgow Sheriff\u00a0Court\u00a0heard that the 41-year-old had earlier attended a party and decided to drive home at 5pm.<\/p>\n

Houston had been driving behind an Audi Q3 vehicle, which had a child sitting in its back seat.<\/p>\n

Prosecutor Anthony Kelly said: \u201cThe driver of the Audi went to move off at a junction before noticing his car jerk forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe realised his vehicle had been hit by Houston.<\/p>\n

\u201cDetails were exchanged and the driver noticed that there were two young children in the rear seats of Houston\u2019s vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n

The driver also noticed that Houston was slow in taking details down and her eyes were drooping.<\/p>\n

She apologised and claimed she was \u201cstressed\u201d because the four and two-year-old children in her care were crying in the back seat.<\/p>\n

Due to concerns, the police were contacted and officers later traced Houston to her home in the city\u2019s Finnieston.<\/p>\n

Her damaged Kia Seed vehicle was noted outside of the property.<\/p>\n

Houston was arrested and took a test, which found that she had 109 microgrammes of alcohol in her breath when the legal limit is 22 microgrammes.<\/p>\n

Houston pleaded guilty to charges of drink driving and exposing the children to unnecessary suffering or injury to health.<\/p>\n

Solicitor advocate Darren Fleming, defending, told the\u00a0court: \u201cShe has displayed signs of remorse and insight into the potential risks.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has had difficulties with alcohol for various reasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was at a party and chose to go home rather than leave the car which she regrets.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy client is lucky the collision with the other vehicle was at a low speed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheriff David Taylor fined Houston \u00a3580 and disqualified her from driving for 20 months.<\/p>\n
