{"id":68241,"date":"2025-05-02T11:21:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-02T11:21:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/68241\/"},"modified":"2025-05-02T11:21:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-02T11:21:09","slug":"switch-users-are-getting-error-codes-after-updating-to-version-20-0-0","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/68241\/","title":{"rendered":"Switch Users Are Getting Error Codes After Updating To Version 20.0.0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"scanlines\" title=\"Nintendo Switch OLED - Nintendo Life\" href=\"https:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/c258f67a63b73\/nintendo-switch-oled-nintendo-life.large.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/nintendo-switch-oled-nintendo-life.900x.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"507\" alt=\"Nintendo Switch OLED - Nintendo Life\"\/><\/a>Image: Nintendo Life<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update [Fri 2nd May 2025, 10:30am]:<\/strong> Nintendo has <a href=\"https:\/\/en-americas-support.nintendo.com\/app\/answers\/detail\/a_id\/22525\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">issued another update<\/a> for the Nintendo Switch, bringing it up to version 20.0.1 and therefore fixing Error Code: 2206-1015 as detailed in our original article (thanks, <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/oatmealdome.bsky.social\/post\/3lo6bqomfba2d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OatmealDome<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not a mandatory update, but if you&#8217;re encountering the error code, you can force the update through by entering &#8216;Maintenance Mode&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>To do so, simply follow the below steps (or visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/en-americas-support.nintendo.com\/app\/answers\/detail\/a_id\/28135\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official Nintendo website<\/a> for a full breakdown):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Power off the Switch fully<\/li>\n<li>Hold both volume + and volume &#8211; buttons and power on the Switch (keep the volume buttons pressed until &#8216;Maintenance Mode&#8217; appears)<\/li>\n<li>Select &#8216;Update System&#8217; and follow the prompts \u2013 if you have a Parental PIN on the system, you&#8217;ll need to enter it here<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now you should be good to go. If this hasn&#8217;t fixed the issue, or you&#8217;re getting a different error code, Nintendo has advised to reach out directly for further assistance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Original Story:<\/strong> Nintendo released a new firmware update for the Switch 2 earlier this week and while it&#8217;s been exciting to unpack all the new features and surprises, it seems it hasn&#8217;t gone as planned for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/forums\/nintendo-switch\/update_20_0_0#reply-01\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Switch users are reporting problems<\/a> with their systems after performing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2025\/04\/nintendo-switch-system-update-20-0-0-is-now-live-here-are-the-full-patch-notes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Version 20.0.0 update<\/a>. It results in &#8220;<strong>Error Code: 2206-1015<\/strong>&#8221; on boot up and stops the device from working. Nintendo has now officially acknowledged this error code via its Japanese customer support page on social media.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s currently investigating the error and will provide more information at a later date. Here&#8217;s a translation of its official notice:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Nintendo:<\/strong> &#8220;We are currently receiving inquiries from some customers about the occurrence of &#8220;Error Code: 2206-1015&#8243; after updating to Nintendo Switch system version 20.0.0. We are currently investigating how to deal with this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience, and ask that you wait for further information.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"reddit-embed-bq\" style=\"height:500px\"><p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/NintendoSwitchHelp\/comments\/1kba4hv\/did_the_update_just_brick_my_switch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Did the update just brick my Switch?<\/a><br \/>by<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/user\/repsejnworb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">u\/repsejnworb<\/a> in<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/NintendoSwitchHelp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NintendoSwitchHelp<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Some users have suggested on the <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/NintendoSwitchHelp\/comments\/1kba4hv\/did_the_update_just_brick_my_switch\/?utm_source=embedv2&amp;utm_medium=post_embed&amp;utm_content=post_body&amp;embed_host_url=https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2025\/05\/nintendo-investigating-switch-error-code-follow-latest-system-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nintendo Switch Help subreddit<\/a> to enter safe mode and trying to reset the system, but this is all at your own risk if you choose to follow any of these suggestions or recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>If there are any serious issues tied to the latest system update, Nintendo will likely resolve this problem with a patch in the immediate future.
