Kevin Thelwell may have had the last laugh on Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti following his two goals against Celtic.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That is according to ex-Aberdeen, Aston Villa, and Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to\u00a0Football Insider<\/strong>, who states Chermiti is now a \u201chero\u201d at Rangers<\/a> for his Glasgow derby heroics.<\/p>\n

Chermiti\u2019s brace helped Rangers to a 3-1 win over Celtic<\/a> to continue their surge up the table, and continue Danny Rohl\u2019s impressive tenure as boss.<\/p>\n

Rangers signed Chermiti for \u00a310million from Everton<\/a> in the summer window, and the 21-year-old had only scored two goals for the club before his double against Celtic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Aberdeen\u2019s former chief\u00a0Keith Wyness<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs \u2013 believes Chermiti\u2019s confidence should be boosted by his goals against Celtic.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the new edition of\u00a0Football Insider<\/strong>\u2018s Inside Track podcast<\/a>, Wyness thinks former Rangers sporting director Thelwell, who was sacked by the club<\/a>, will be \u201claughing\u201d following Chermiti\u2019s brace.<\/p>\n

He told\u00a0Football Insider<\/strong>\u2018s Inside Track podcast: \u201cListen, the fickleness of football is incredible. I heard the fans booing\u00a0Chermiti\u00a0a few weeks ago, and again I saw them chanting his name, and\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0got his own song now, and\u00a0all of\u00a0a\u00a0sudden\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0a hero. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou scored two goals against Celtic, and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0like,\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0the hero for life up in\u00a0Rangers\u00a0land. But yes, this will give him confidence. As we all know, strikers can give you confidence.\u00a0Kevin\u00a0Thelwell will be laughing, saying, I told you so. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0a physical\u00a0talent, but\u00a0maybe this\u00a0will give him that impetus to go forward. But to score two goals against Celtic at Celtic Park.\u00a0You\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0get that many chances, and so that will give him such\u00a0confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chermiti may have been heading for a quick Ibrox exit, but his Celtic goals have turned his fortunes around in Glasgow.<\/p>\n

Rangers are now not planning on selling Chermiti<\/a> in January, hoping that the striker can kick on and cement a position in Rohl\u2019s starting XI.<\/p>\n
