Canelo Alvarez<\/a> lost his super-middleweight throne four months ago but the Mexican superstar has refused to walk away from the sport. Now, the 35-year-old has been offered a fight against a British fan-favourite for his ring return.<\/p>\n

Alvarez\u2019s seven-year reign at 168lbs came to an end back in September, when he was trumped by the great Terence Crawford<\/a> in the standout fight and performance of the 2025 calendar. Although, whilst Crawford\u2019s display was phenomenal, many fans felt as though Canelo\u2019s was both underwhelming and telling.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Slough-based Hamzah Sheeraz has emerged as one of the potential top dogs at super-middleweight after an impressive beatdown of Edgar Berlanga<\/a> upon his debut in the division back in July.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Box Nation<\/a>, promoter Frank Warren explained why Sheeraz was able to put together such a dominant showing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a brilliant performance by him, a lot of people that I know didn\u2019t fancy him. I fancied him, because he was comfortable at the weight. Prior to that, he had been really struggling to make the weight.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is his natural weight now, he is really comfortable with it and I think that fight really brought him on even more.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Warren then went on to reveal his willingness to stage a clash between Sheeraz and Canelo, adding his belief that Sheeraz would overcome the four-division world champion if given the opportunity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would make him and Canelo tomorrow, if they would stand for it. It\u2019s a super-fight and I think he [Sheeraz] would beat him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know [if Canelo wants that fight] but he is a fighting man. If I was him, I\u2019d be thinking I\u2019ll find better options, but I would love that fight to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Canelo has recently withdrawn from an ordered vacant world title shot against Cuba\u2019s Osleys Iglesias due to recovery from elbow surgery. He is expected to return around September time.<\/p>\n

Sheeraz, meanwhile, has been ordered by both the WBC and WBO to fight for their vacant belts, with a choice between Christian Mbilli and Diego Pacheco respectively.
