\n One of the fairways at Harwich & Dovercourt Golf Club, in Station Road, has been vandalised.\n<\/p>\n
\n Motorised vehicles were driven over the course and a fence was knocked down, said course manager Dominic Nea.\n<\/p>\n

\n Mr Nea, who has worked at the club for four years, said: “There also appears to be adult and child footprints around the area, and they may have pulled around a sled.\n<\/p>\n
\n “When the snow thaws it will really badly damage the green.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I expect it will cost thousands to seed and fertilise the grass again, if we get decent weather in spring.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We can fix this but it will be a lot more work, especially in the colder weather.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The nine-hole golf club will be open to the public while repairs get underway, with golfers being able to play around the damage or moved to a temporary green.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Nea said: “I just want to make people aware so if anyone does hear anything motorised it could be causing damage or mean someone is doing something wrong.”\n<\/p>\n

\n The vandalism comes after one of the driest springs.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Nea said: “After last summer’s drought we spent a lot of money restoring all of the fairways, but especially the one that’s just been vandalised.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We lost a lot of grass coverage due to the dry weather so when the rainfall started, we repaired what we could.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Last October the same sort of thing happened, someone kicked over the fence and drove over three of our greens with a bike.”\n<\/p>\n
