Ghost<\/a> have explained what happened to \u2018Papa Emeritus IV\u2019 in a new video teasing the latest era of the metal band.<\/p>\n

Back in February, the band teased the name of their \u201cnew\u201d frontman as part of the latest evolution of the metal band\u2019s singer.<\/a><\/p>\n

On February 5, Black Sabbath announced their final-ever live show, which will take place in Birmingham on July 5<\/a>. The band also announced star-studded opening acts and special guests, which include the likes of Metallica<\/a>, Slayer<\/a>, Pantera<\/a>, Lamb Of God<\/a>, Mastodon<\/a>, Alice In Chains<\/a>, Halestorm,<\/a> recent Grammy<\/a>-winners Gojira<\/a> and more.<\/p>\n

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that the poster of the legendary metal band\u2019s final show featured \u201cPapa V Perpetua\u201d of Ghost among the list of special guests. Ghost later took to their official Facebook page to share a post that read: \u201c[MESSAGE FROM THE CLERGY] We wish to inform you V is coming\u2026To Birmingham on July 5th.\u201d<\/p>\n

Very little else was shared. The physical appearance of the new Papa was not been revealed either, however, the band\u2019s post did feature a photo of a black and purple swirled background with the Roman numeral \u201cV\u201d in the centre.<\/p>\n

Now, as the new Papa V Perpetua is about to take over, the band have revealed what happened to Papa Emeritus IV.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

At the end of Ghost\u2019s \u2018Impera\u2019 album touring in 2023, Papa Emeritus IV \u201cretired\u201d onstage after a final performance.<\/p>\n

Since the formation of the band, Ghost frontman Tobias Forge has performed under an evolving alias. There has been a new \u201cPapa\u201d to front the Ghost \u201cclergy\u201d for every album the band have released. The new version of the frontman builds on the band\u2019s lore and storyline via Christian symbolism and Biblical references.<\/p>\n

Now, in a new video which you can see above, Papa Emeritus\u2019 was revealed in a new chapter titled \u2018Arrival of a Secret Agent.\u2019<\/p>\n

It\u2019s relayed in the episode that in his post rock band career, Papa Emeritus has now been christened Frater Imperator. It\u2019s revealed that his mother recently passed away and that he\u2019s struggling to cope with the news.<\/p>\n

We then discover that, the new Ghost leader, Papa V Perpetua, is Frater\u2019s fraternal twin \u2013 something he doesn\u2019t appear to be happy about.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Speaking about the story of Ghost with NME<\/a>, Alex Ross Perry \u2013 who directed the band\u2019s film film RITE HERE RITE NOW \u2013 shared: \u201cGhost as a band is like a planet and the story is like the moon. The moon is not part of the planet, but it orbits the planet. The songs and the meanings are thematically connected to what Ghost are pursuing, but they\u2019re not creating a rock opera about these family dynamics of mothers, sons and fathers. I think for fans, it\u2019s like getting two meals instead of one.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frontman Tobias Forge added: \u201cI think the family that we\u2019re talking about, they\u2019re just the manifestation of a very common occurrence within mankind\u2019s struggle to live life. The idea of being fearful of death is very common.\u201d<\/p>\n
