A man has been banned from driving after a car smashed into scaffolding in Edinburgh.<\/a> Emergency crews rushed to Queen Street in the capital following the incident at 2.40pm on Friday, January 2.<\/p>\n

No one was injured in the collision<\/a> or as a result of the scaffolding becoming insecure as cops locked down Queen Street between Frederick Street and Hanover Street. Police then arrested and charged a 33-year-old man in connection with road traffic offences.<\/p>\n

On January 3, Durghesh Charware appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court. He pled guilty to charges of driving<\/a> while disqualified, not having insurance and drive a motor vehicle of that class without a license permitting him to.<\/p>\n

He has been disqualified<\/a> from driving for 12 months, given a \u00a3400 fine and a \u00a320 victim surcharge.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Police Scotland <\/a>said: \u201cRoad closures are in place in Edinburgh city centre after a car collided with a scaffold, causing it to become insecure, around 2.40pm on Friday, January 2. There are no reported injuries. Please avoid the area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lothian Buses also issued an alert that three of its services<\/a> would be re-routed until further notice at the time.<\/p>\n

The operator said: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve part Hanover Street and are instead diverted via George Street, Frederick Street and Heriot Row in both directions until further notice.”<\/p>\n
