We travelled to Alloa to decide whether it deserves to be labelled ‘boring’Credit: Alamy 3<\/p>\n The location came third on The Telegraph’s ranking of the most dull placesCredit: Alamy 3<\/p>\n Some residents came to its defence despite being described as ‘one of the most deprived places in Scotland’Credit: Andrew Barr – The Sun Glasgow<\/p>\n The location, which has a population of almost 15,000 people, came third on The Telegraph’s<\/a> ranking of the most dull places, behind destinations such as Surbiton and Stevenage in England.<\/p>\n We travelled to Alloa to decide whether it deserves to be labelled ‘boring’.<\/p>\n Miko Bylinka, Shift Manager at Syrian, told The Scottish Sun: “I don’t think it is the most boring, but recently over the past years, it has gone a bit downhill with a lot of places closing or changing for the worse.<\/p>\n “We still have some interesting things going on in town, especially the old brewery, and the nature here is wonderful.<\/p>\n “But overall the businesses, it feels like some of them have gone downhill with a lot of places for let.<\/p>\n I don’t think it is the most boring, but recently over the past years, it has gone a bit downhill with a lot of places closing or changing for the worse.<\/p>\n Miko Bylinka<\/p><\/blockquote>\n “For the younger generation, there’s less opportunities here, especially in terms of jobs<\/a>.<\/p>\n “The nightlife is not necessarily the best for young people either. I would say it’s more oriented to older people.”<\/p>\n The streets of Alloa appear to look pretty much the same as most towns across Scotland and the rest of the UK.\u00a0<\/p>\n It has its fair share of pubs<\/a>, as well as charity shops, vape shops, and local retailers.\u00a0<\/p>\n Another resident said: “It’s obviously someone who doesn’t live here or care about people [who said it’s boring], because one great thing about Alloa, and I’ve lived here since 1976, is it’s friendly.”<\/p>\n Inside eerie, rat-infested homes dubbed UK\u2019s \u2018most depressing estate\u2019 after being ravaged by arson yobs as young as TEN<\/p>\n A third added: “I disagree, my wife and I pop over here once every couple of months and we don’t find it boring. <\/p>\n “There’s a Wetherspoons<\/a> and there’s loads of cafes.”<\/p>\n A fourth weighed in: “There’s nothing much here for the young ones, but it’s not a bad little place and it’s alright for the community.”<\/p>\n![\"Alloa](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/fk06t1-alloa-tower-sun-292639584.jpg\")
